• Newspaper Article, 24 Oct 1924, Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, USA. 557 Nebraska City - Gladys Kreider, five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Kreider, was severely burned from her head to her knee on the entire right side of her body here Thursday when she attempted to build a fire by pouring kerosene on cobs in a stove in her father's paint shop. She was alone in the building at the time and ran into the street with her clothing ablaze. The fire was extinguished by passersby and the girl was rushed to the hospital.

Nebraska City, Neb., Oct. 19 - Gladys Kreider, five years old, who was here Thursday when she poured kerosene on buring cobs in a stove in her father's paint shop, is in a weakened condition today and physicians fear she may not be able to withstand the great shock.
BABY FINALLY SUCCUMBS - Passes Away at Omaha Hospital - Fourth Child of Family to Die in Accident
Nebraska City, Neb., Jan. 3 - Little Violet Kreider, five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Kreider of this city, who was severely burned about the body early October when flames from a stove in her father's paint shop caught fire to her clothing, died after a long and valiant fight in an Omaha hospital where she was rushed after the accident. Four children in the same family have met accidental deaths. Another daughter died instantly earlier in the year when she fell on a pair of scissors while playing at the family home. The body was taken to Weeping Water for burial.
